Dear All
I was just thinking how my working week had changed so much since being a mum. For me rush hour is no longer sitting in a car for the hour long commute to work. Instead it's the uphill battle with the pushchair, trying to keep up with my son on his scooter and drop my daughter off at pre-school. I then hare home for a couple of hours to get my head down and work. I no longer get the water cooler gossip but can peruse twitter with my coffee for a bit of a break. And the 9-5 is gone. It's more like 9.30 - 12.15, then 8pm - 10pm! If something is taking a while to download or I need a breather to let some ideas form in my mind I switch what I'm doing and pop a load of washing on, or make the beds. I think I've always multi tasked - maybe it's just that the tasks are in a different order these days. Often my 'time off' for socialising will be in the day, with a friend and their kids, catching up over a play and coffee - recharging my batteries for more work in the evening. And REAL time off - just for me - do I get it? Sometimes. Not often. But I think one of the biggest changes of my working week is I now really love the work I do so I don't tend to see such a distinct divide between work and and the rest of life. I also now appreciate every penny I earn and the flexible lifestyle it allows me to lead spending as much time as possible with my children.
Would love to hear about your working week.
