This should allow the parent/carer who is trained or who has made themselves familiar with the guide to visually use it to support them.
We highly recommend that all customers read through and become familiar with each step so they are further prepared if in an emergency situation.
INDICARE has been approved by the Senior Resuscitation Officer, of the Royal Devon and Exeter NHS Foundation trust. The guidance provided is in accordance with the 2005 European Resuscitation council guidelines.
A message from Sarah Tague, company director
As any new mother I made sure I had all the things that you needed to buy in preparation for your baby - first aid kit, thermometer, baby monitor, countless baby grows were just a few of them.
As a first time mum I also experienced my fair share of frightening moments with the usual tumbles and bumps, as well as the countless times I put my ear to her chest to check she was still breathing while she slept.
None of these though, were nearly as scary a moment (that will stay with me forever) as when we were sat in a restaurant whilst on a family holiday.
My baby daughter was sat munching on a banana whilst strapped safely into her pushchair. She started choking. Panic set in and I couldn't get the straps undone, everyone in the restaurant was now watching adding to my panic. At last I finally managed to get her out of the pram and gave her 3 firm slaps to the back - thankfully on the 3rd slap the banana dislodged, everyone around us was so relieved, but none more so than myself and my husband and our little baby girl.
'Luckily there was a happy ending to this story but it could have been so different'
Luckily there was a happy ending to this story but it could have been so different and gave me a bit of a wake-up call. What would have been the next step if the back slaps hadn't worked?
I had done a first aid course, but I know I still wouldn't have known what to do should the back slaps not have worked. The incident gave me flashbacks and I questioned myself on my knowledge of what to do in an emergency situation.
I looked everywhere for something that would provide me with Baby First Aid information that would be around me at all times, something that was easy to understand. I am not good at remembering things in stressful situations so I needed something that could guide me through.
I couldn't find anything. I started to look at how much of a problem it was for other mums and almost every mum I spoke to, at some point had to perform some sort of emergency first aid and the most common type among them was choking.
'INDICARE a product I'm very proud of and that I hope will benefit people who find themselves in a time of crisis'
I took all this on board and with an enormous amount of research on baby and child first aid and hard work was able to create INDICARE? a product I'm very proud of and that I hope will benefit people who find themselves in a time of crisis.
